Mayor of Ludlow Attends 40th Anniversary Twinning Celebration at Ludlow Brewery

Ludlow’s long‑standing friendship with its twin town La Ferté‑Macé reached a special milestone this year, as Mayor Cllr Diane Lyle attended a celebratory Twinning event at Ludlow Brewery to mark the 40th anniversary of the partnership.

The Mayor was joined by the Deputy Mayor of La Ferté‑Macé, reaffirming the close civic ties that have connected the two towns since 1984. The evening brought together French visitors, local hosts, and members of the Ludlow French Twinning Association for an informal celebration of four decades of shared culture, friendship and community exchange.

Guests were warmly welcomed by Grace Wilkins, Chair of Ludlow French Twinning, who reflected on the enduring value of the partnership and the many friendships formed through school exchanges, cultural visits and community events over the past forty years.

The evening also featured a standout musical performance by Edward Hunt from Ludlow School, whose contribution was warmly received and highlighted the talent and enthusiasm of Ludlow’s young people.

Mayor Lyle said the event was “a wonderful reminder of the strong bonds between our two towns and the importance of international friendship at a community level.”

Ludlow Town Council extends its thanks to all volunteers, host families, and partners who continue to support and nurture the twinning relationship, ensuring it remains vibrant for future generations.
