Support Ludlow Market in the Great British Market Awards

Ludlow Town Council is pleased to announce that Ludlow Market is among the markets the public can vote for in the Great British Market Awards 2027, a national celebration of excellence, innovation and community spirit across UK markets.

Set in the historic heart of Ludlow and nestled beneath the backdrop of Ludlow Castle, Ludlow Market is one of Shropshire’s most distinctive community spaces. Throughout the week, it brings together local traders, makers, growers and families in a lively, welcoming environment.

Regular markets run every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday in Ludlow, offering a vibrant mix of fresh produce, handmade goods, artisan foods, vintage finds and unique crafts.

Alongside its regular rhythm, Ludlow Market hosts a rich programme of specialist markets that add flair and variety to the town centre. The Town Council’s Food and Craft Market and Craft and Country Market each bring their own personality and loyal following, supporting the development of the local economy by providing a low-cost way for young people and local businesses to branch out into market trading.

Regular third‑party markets include the long-running Antiques Market held on the first and third Sunday of each month, and the Local to Ludlow Producers’ Market — a particular point of pride. Independently managed as a not‑for‑profit Community Interest Company, it champions local growers, makers and sustainable produce. Run with community values at its core, it has even been shortlisted as a Farmers’ Market of the Year Finalist 2027, reflecting its quality, ethos and strong local support.

Seasonal highlights such as the Halloween Market, Christmas Market, Mayor’s Charity Market, Tinsel Tuesdays, and Makers Markets draw visitors from across Shropshire and beyond, creating a year‑round calendar of community celebration.

Public voting is now open until 11 December, and residents, visitors and supporters can cast their vote for Ludlow Market as Britain’s Favourite Market. Ludlow Town Council encourages everyone to take part and help shine a spotlight on the Market at a national level — participation will help demonstrate the strength of community pride in Ludlow’s historic market.
