Ludlow Town Council Celebrates Milestone in Ongoing Bus Shelter Improvement Project

Ludlow Town Council is proud to report significant progress in its long-term commitment to improving public transport infrastructure in the town through the ongoing Bus Shelter Project. This initiative, launched in 2019 following a public consultation, has already delivered tangible benefits to local residents and continues to grow with new developments underway.

The project began with a simple but powerful question to local bus users: “As users of the bus service, you know better than anyone where a bus shelter is needed and would be more useful.” Residents were encouraged to identify locations where a shelter would provide protection from wind, improve comfort in busy areas, or enhance accessibility.

In response to the valuable community feedback received, Ludlow Town Council agreed to install one new bus shelter each year—a target that has been consistently met.

Completed Bus Shelter Installations:

2019 – Corve Street
2020 – Sheet Road
2021 – Upper Galdeford
2022 – Sandpits Road
2023 – Charlton Rise
2024 (postponed to early 2025) – Tollgate Road

These shelters provide safer, more comfortable waiting areas for residents of all ages, helping to encourage use of public transport and enhance overall accessibility.

Most recently the refurbishment of the historic bus shelter on Mill Street has been completed and Ludlow Town Council now eagerly anticipates the refurbishment of the existing bus shelter on Henley Road, and a new public consultation to look forward to new opportunities.

This community-led project demonstrates Ludlow Town Council’s continued dedication to improving day-to-day life for residents and visitors alike—one bus shelter at a time.
