Ludlow Invited to Celebrate Mayor’s Sunday at St Laurence’s Church

Ludlow Town Council warmly invites residents, community groups and local organisations to attend Mayor’s Sunday on Sunday 28th June at 10:00am at St Laurence’s Church, Ludlow.

This year’s Civic Service will be attended by Councillor Diane Lyle, continuing her service as Mayor of Ludlow for a second consecutive year, alongside newly appointed Deputy Mayor, Councillor Pete Addis, members of Ludlow Town Council, Shropshire Council representatives, and Mayors and Civic Dignitaries from across the region.

Mayor’s Sunday is one of Ludlow’s long‑standing civic traditions — a moment for the town to come together in reflection, celebration and community spirit. Before the service, Ludlow Concert Band will play music to accompany the civic procession. The service will include prayers and readings followed by light refreshments.

The event brings together representatives from local organisations, neighbouring councils, and community volunteers, recognising the shared commitment to public service and the wellbeing of the town.

To support the safe running of the procession, short road closures will be in place from approximately 9:30–9:45am, affecting the Bull Ring, King Street, High Street, Castle Street, Market Street and Broad Street. These will be kept to a minimum and reopened as soon as the procession has passed.

Mayor’s Sunday remains an important opportunity to celebrate Ludlow’s civic life and the people who contribute to it — a tradition that continues to reflect the town’s strong sense of community and shared pride. Ludlow Town Council looks forward to welcoming the community to this meaningful civic occasion.
