Vintage Glamour and Lawn‑Side Fun Close the Mayor’s Fundraising Year

As her mayoral year draws to a close, the Mayor of Ludlow, Cllr Diane Lyle, is delighted to share the success of the final two fundraising events held last week in support of her chosen charity, Working Together Ludlow. Both events brought the community together in true Ludlow spirit, rounding off a year of generosity, celebration and support for a much‑loved local organisation.

Castle Lodge was transformed for an elegant 1920s‑themed dinner, offering guests an evening of vintage charm inside one of Ludlow’s most atmospheric historic buildings. The night also featured a lively charity auction, with prizes generously donated by Ludlow Brewery, The Nail Gallery, Ludlow Gin Distillery and other local supporters. With themed décor, period touches and a warm community atmosphere, the evening was a standout moment in the Mayor’s fundraising calendar.

Last week also saw the launch of a brand‑new event — the Mayor’s Charity Croquet Play Day at Ludlow Croquet Club. This fresh addition to the Mayor’s fundraising programme offered guests a relaxed afternoon on the lawn, complete with a welcome drink, a beginner‑friendly croquet lesson, friendly matches and afternoon tea provided by Working Together Ludlow. The event was warmly received, with many attendees trying croquet for the first time and enjoying the sociable, light‑hearted atmosphere — all while raising funds for a brilliant local cause.

Reflecting on her final fundraising events, Cllr Diane Lyle said: “It has been a privilege to see how warmly the community has supported all the charity events throughout the year. These final two occasions were a chance to come together once more, enjoy each other’s company, and continue raising funds for the brilliant work of Working Together Ludlow. I’m incredibly grateful for the generosity and enthusiasm shown by residents across Ludlow, and to everyone who has supported events and donated prizes, time and effort.”

All proceeds from the Mayor’s charity events will go directly to Working Together Ludlow, whose mission is to include people with learning difficulties and disabilities in community life through meaningful activities, support and opportunities. With the 1920s dinner and Croquet Play Day alone raising nearly £500, the Mayor hopes these final events will help end her mayoral year on a strong note of generosity and community spirit.
