Ludlow Town Council Reaffirms Commitment to Equality, Respect, and Inclusion During Pride Month
As communities across the country come together to celebrate Pride Month, Ludlow Town Council proudly reaffirms its unwavering commitment to equality, civility, and respect for all.
Pride Month is a time to recognise the invaluable contributions of LGBTQ+ individuals and to stand together against discrimination and inequality. At Ludlow Town Council, we believe in the importance of fostering an inclusive and respectful community—one where everyone feels safe, valued, and heard.
Our Civility and Respect Statement underscores our zero-tolerance approach to abuse, aggression, or threats of any kind. We treat everyone with courtesy and respect and ask for the same in return. Councillors and staff have the right to carry out their duties without fear of violence, abuse, or harassment—whether in person, in writing, or online whether they are at their place of work, in a public arena where their constituents are present, or just going about their business in town.
As part of our Equal Opportunities Policy, the Council is committed to promoting fairness in all aspects of its work, including recruitment, employment, service provision, and community engagement. We celebrate the diversity that strengthens our community and strive to make all Council services accessible to every individual, regardless of background, identity or orientation.
“Ludlow Town Council is proud to stand with the LGBTQ+ community this Pride Month and every month,” said Councillor Diane Lyle, Mayor of Ludlow “Equality, dignity, and mutual respect are not just values we promote—they are the foundation of everything we do.”
In support of this, Ludlow Town Council will continue to:
- Work with local organisations to promote inclusivity and community safety.
- Ensure that communications and events reflect and celebrate the diversity of Ludlow.
- Consult and listen to all voices in our community through accessible and inclusive participation.
- Require all partners, contractors, and collaborators to uphold our commitment to equal opportunities.
Let us all use this Pride Month to reaffirm our collective responsibility to build a kinder, more respectful and equitable Ludlow.
