Shropshire Wild Bathing App Launched
Shropshire Wild Bathing App Launched
Ahead of the wild swimming season starting on May 15, the River Severn Partnership and the Environment Agency are launching a new bathing water monitoring initiative for the River Severn in Shrewsbury.
The scheme builds on the success of a similar project already in place on the River Teme in Ludlow, where advanced sensors have been installed at a designated wild swimming site. These sensors provide regular updates on water quality, enhancing safety and confidence for swimmers.
Funded by the River Severn Partnership Advanced Wireless Innovation Region, the initiative enables the Environment Agency to collect daily water quality data remotely, supplementing the manual readings currently taken once a week.
To support the project, a new free-to-use app, Wild Bathing Shropshire, will launch on Friday, May 9. Developed by Wolf Logic, the app provides swimmers with real-time information on water quality at the River Teme in Ludlow.
