Ludlow Unites in Civic Celebration for Mayor’s Sunday

Ludlow Town Council is pleased to invite members of the public to attend Mayor’s Sunday on Sunday 29th June at 10:00am, held in the historic setting of St Laurence’s Church, Ludlow.

In attendance at this special Civic Service, we welcome Councillor Diane Lyle Mayor of Ludlow, alongside the Deputy Mayor, members of Ludlow Town Council, Shropshire Council representatives, and Mayors and Civic Dignitaries from across the region.

This traditional service includes a reading by Mayor Councillor Diane Lyle, followed by an Affirmation of Faith and an Act of Dedication, during which the Mayor, Town Councillors, and Shropshire Councillors will each pledge:

“With the help of God, I will seek to serve with wisdom, integrity, and courage, promoting the welfare and peace of Ludlow and the wider county.”

To support the event, a short road closure will be in place affecting Bull Ring, King Street, High Street, Castle Street, Market Street and Broad Street between 9:30am and 9:45am to allow for the safe assembly and movement of the civic procession. During the event the Ludlow Concert Band will be performing outside the Buttercross, adding a celebratory musical atmosphere to the occasion.

This Civic Service offers a reflective and celebratory moment for elected representatives and the local community alike to come together in unity and commitment to public service.

After the service, light refreshments will be served in St Laurence’s Church, and all are warmly invited to stay and take part.

Mayor’s Sunday is a longstanding tradition in Ludlow and all members of the public are welcome to attend this meaningful civic occasion.
