Ludlow Town Council fully supports the provision of a publicly accessible defibrillator in Ludlow town centre and recognises the important role that this life-saving equipment can play in an emergency.

The Council’s Planning Committee considered the recent proposal for a defibrillator at the Bull Ring and agreed that the proposed location was not suitable, while supporting the principle of having a defibrillator in the town centre.  The Committee’s concern was not about the appearance or design of the defibrillator or its cabinet. It was specifically about the proposed siting, which would have narrowed an already busy section of pavement and affected the available space for pedestrians.

The Council would welcome the opportunity to see a suitable alternative location identified nearby, where the defibrillator can remain highly accessible to the public without narrowing the pavement or creating an obstruction.

A publicly accessible defibrillator in the heart of Ludlow would be a valuable community asset, and Ludlow Town Council is keen to see the project progress at an appropriate location.

The Council is supportive of working with the relevant organisations to help identify an alternative site and enable this important life-saving equipment to be available for the town’s residents, businesses and visitors.
