Ludlow Museum at the Buttercross welcomed around thirty guests to a special evening reception this week as part of its 10th anniversary celebrations. The Mayor of Ludlow, the Deputy Mayor and several councillors joined Ludlow Town Council staff, volunteers, partners and supporters for an informal gathering celebrating a decade of preserving, sharing and bringing Ludlow’s heritage to life.

The evening provided an opportunity to reflect on the Museum’s journey and the contribution it makes to the community. The Mayor of Ludlow spoke about the Museum’s achievements, including its Arts Council Accreditation — a nationally recognised mark of a professionally managed, sustainable and trusted museum — and the 2017 heritage award from Ludlow’s Conservation Area Advisory Committee, recognising the successful refurbishment of the Buttercross and its contribution to the town’s historic character.

Over the past decade, the Museum has welcomed more than 50,000 visitors and has provided a place where residents, school groups, community organisations and visitors can discover and connect with the stories that have shaped Ludlow.

The anniversary celebrations continue during the Ludlow History Festival period, with free entry supported by Ludlow Town Guides and Ludlow Civic Society. Everyone is invited to visit the Museum, explore its displays and join in celebrating this important milestone in the town’s heritage.
