Ludlow Museum at the Buttercross is marking a major milestone this summer as it celebrates 10 years since opening its doors to the public. To honour a decade of sharing Ludlow’s rich heritage, the Museum will host a special anniversary day on Wednesday 12th August, offering free entry for all visitors and a warm welcome to explore the town’s history in the heart of Ludlow.

A celebratory evening reception will take place from 6pm to 8.30pm, inviting guests, supporters, and community partners to join Ludlow Town Council and Museum team members in recognising the achievements of the past decade and the importance of the Buttercross as a historic landmark.

To continue the celebrations, and in recognition of the Museum’s role in preserving and presenting Ludlow’s story, Ludlow Museum at the Buttercross will be open daily with free entry throughout Ludlow’s History Festival, running 21st–31st August. This extended opening offers residents and visitors alike the chance to enjoy the Museum’s collections, exhibitions, and family-friendly displays during one of the town’s most vibrant cultural weeks.

Celebrating our 10th anniversary is a proud milestone for both the Museum and the town. The Museum plays a vital role in preserving, sharing and celebrating Ludlow's rich heritage, connecting residents and visitors with the stories that have shaped our community. This anniversary is not only an opportunity to reflect on the past, but also to recognise the dedication of our volunteers, staff, partners and visitors whose support has enabled the Museum to flourish. We are delighted to open our doors free of charge on our anniversary day and throughout the History Festival, giving even more people the opportunity to discover what makes Ludlow's heritage so special.”

Since opening in 2015, Ludlow Museum at the Buttercross has welcomed over 50,000 visitors, school groups, and heritage enthusiasts. Its exhibitions highlight Ludlow’s archaeology, medieval development, civic history, and the stories of the people who shaped the town.

Ludlow Museum at the Buttercross is operated by Ludlow Town Council, supported by Ludlow Civic Society and is located in the historic Buttercross building at the top of Broad Street. The Museum’s 10th anniversary celebrations are part of a wider programme of summer events supporting local heritage, tourism, and community engagement.
