Celebrate Ludlow Market – The Beating Heart of Our Historic Town
As part of NABMA’s nationwide Love Your Local Market fortnight, Ludlow Town Council is proud to shine a spotlight on Ludlow Market – a vibrant, welcoming space at the centre of our community that offers more than just shopping.
Centrally located in the heart of Ludlow’s beautiful historic town, the market is a cornerstone of daily life and local culture. Owned and managed by Ludlow Town Council, the market is a place where locals and visitors alike are encouraged to pause, sit down with a cuppa, and enjoy a friendly chat in the bustling market square – a rare and cherished chance to connect in today’s busy world.
With regular market days on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays all year round, Ludlow Market provides a reliable rhythm for residents – a place where people gather, shop, and meet familiar faces. These days offer an important sense of routine, community, and continuity, especially valued during challenging economic times.
In addition to the regular market, Ludlow hosts a vibrant range of specialist markets that bring added colour and diversity to the town. These include:
• Local Produce Market – every other Thursday, proudly run by Ludlow 21, showcasing sustainable, locally-sourced goods.
• Food & Craft Market – on Thursdays, perfect for discovering artisan delights and handmade treasures.
• Craft & Country Market – on select Sundays, a celebration of rural charm and creativity.
• Antiques & Collectibles Market – every other Sunday, drawing treasure hunters from near and far.
Ludlow Town Council remains committed to supporting its traders and has kept rents as low as possible to help businesses weather the pressures of the current economic climate. This practical support reflects the council’s belief in the value of a thriving local market – not just as a place of commerce, but as a hub of community life, creativity, and human connection.
Cllr Diane Lyle, Mayor of Ludlow, said:
“Our market is the beating heart of Ludlow – a place where people meet, stories are shared, and local businesses flourish. We’re proud to support our traders and celebrate what makes our market a vital part of our town and such an important part of our visitor experience.”
Join us during Love Your Local Market Fortnight to celebrate the charm, character, and community spirit of Ludlow Market – and discover (or rediscover) why it holds a special place in the hearts of so many.
