Civic Award Nominations Open Today
Nominations are now open for the 2026 Ludlow Civic Awards, celebrating the individuals and groups whose dedication, kindness, and community spirit help make Ludlow such a special place to live.
Each year, the Civic Awards shine a light on those who go above and beyond—whether through volunteering, supporting neighbours, championing local causes, or helping to put Ludlow on the map. Residents are warmly encouraged to nominate deserving candidates.
Thisyear, five award categories are open for nomination:
- Voluntary Work Civic Award – Individuals aged 18 and over
- Young Persons’ Voluntary Work Civic Award – Individuals under 18
- Community Group Voluntary Work Civic Award – Community groups making a positive impact
- Public Bench Memorial Plaque for Voluntary Work – A commemorative plaque recognising exceptional service
- Voluntary Work in Support of Climate Action Award – Recognising contributions that support environmental and climate‑positive initiatives
Nominees should meet at least one of the following criteria, as set out in the Civic Awards framework:
- Made a material contribution to the advancement, wellbeing, or welfare of the people of Ludlow
- Demonstrated outstanding citizenship
- Carried out unpaid work in the community for some time
- Through their endeavours, helped put Ludlow on the map
- Through their contribution, made Ludlow a better place to live
All nominations must be proposed and seconded by residents within the Ludlow Parish Boundary or those appearing on the Ludlow electoral register. Each nomination must be accompanied by a citation explaining why the nominee deserves recognition.

The deadline for submissions is Wednesday 6th May 2026.
Reflecting on the importance of the awards, Di Lyle, Mayor of Ludlow said: “Within Ludlow, unsung heroes and groups are making extraordinary contributions to our community. The Ludlow Civic Awards offer a platform to shine a spotlight and celebrate their invaluable impact.”
The 2026 Civic Awards will be presented at the Mayor Making Ceremony on Wednesday 27th May 2026 at 7pm, held at Ludlow Assembly Rooms. All residents are warmly invited to attend this special civic occasion, which will also include the swearing‑in of the new Mayor and the appointment of individuals to civic and ceremonial roles.
